Experienced Legal Cashier

We are looking to recruit an experienced Legal Cashier, starting in June , to work in our busy office in Haywards Heath. The position will report to the Financial Controller and Senior Partner and will be responsible for all aspects of the day to day cashiering function within the firm together with maintaining a rigorous credit control process.

The successful candidate will provide support across a variety of areas, including regulatory compliance and reporting, ensuring that the firm’s agreed procedures are maintained and adhered to, bank transactions, credit control and routine accounting functions. You will support the Firm’s Partners, Financial Controller and Practice Manager.

The duties of this role will include:

  • Dealing with office and client monies in accordance with the Solicitors Regulation Authority Accounts Rules
  • Checking and recording incoming bills
  • Approving and finalising outgoing invoices
  • Entering all necessary accounts into the Firm’s case management software (LEAP)
  • Checking and approving banking
  • Understanding client ledgers
  • Entering and preparing electronic payments
  • Bank reconciliations
  • Dealing with banking, petty cash and producing cheques
  • Taking card payments via telephone or in person
  • Dealing with queries from across the firm
  • Maintaining a disciplined credit control process
  • Ensuring compliance
  • Supporting fee earners and management through the provision of financial reports
  • Overseeing and assisting with our file closing procedure.

Key requirements of the successful candidate:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Mathematically competent
  • Previous relevant experience in a Law firm essential
  • Flexible, willing to do whatever is needed when it is needed
  • Happy to work independently
  • Proficiency in MS Office (MS Excel, Word and Outlook, in particular)
  • Experience working with LEAP highly desirable but training provided as necessary
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritise work
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Tidy, organised, good typing and general office skills
  • IT literate
  • Able to manage own work allocation, productivity and quality of work with minimum supervision.

Commercial Solicitor/ Legal Executive 

We are looking to recruit a commercial solicitor to ideally start in July 2018, initially to provide maternity cover, but with a possibility of this becoming a permanent position in line with projected departmental growth. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a talented and dynamic team of professionals in a unique West Sussex legal practice. 

Ideally you will have several years PQE (or equivalent) with a demonstrable track record of running a mixed commercial caseload. You will have experience in the areas of company commercial law, employment law and or commercial property law. 

This role will suit someone who is looking to progress their career and will give you the opportunity to develop very strong client relationships, not only with clients from across the local region but also from further afield, in line with our existing client base. You will have ambition, energy and enthusiasm in abundance to continue to develop and grow yourself as well as the department.

The role reports directly to the Senior Partner, with the successful candidate having responsibility for managing their own caseload working under their own initiative but also as part of our existing team. You will have:

Private Client Solicitor/ Legal Executive

Due to staff relocation, we are looking to recruit a private client solicitor or legal executive. Ideally you will be qualified with several years’ experience (2+ years PQE or equivalent) with a demonstrable track record of running a mixed Private Client caseload. You will have experience in (most of) the areas of Wills & Probate, LPAs, Trusts and Estate Planning, Court of Protection. You will also have working knowledge of Inheritance and Capital Gains tax legislation. A strong interest and background in successful business development is highly desirable.

This role will suit someone who is looking to progress their career and will give you the opportunity to develop very strong client relationships, not only with clients from across the local region but also from further afield, in line with our existing client base. You will have ambition, energy and enthusiasm in abundance to continue to develop and grow yourself as well as the department.

The role reports directly to the senior partner, with the successful candidate having responsibility for managing their own caseload working under their own initiative.  You will have a proven track record of attention to detail, and be capable of prioritising and working well under pressure. You will be both literate and numerate and enjoy interacting with clients from all walks of life. A proactive approach towards forging and maintaining relationships with introducers (e.g. IFAs, Accountants, etc.) and the ability to deliver a high standard of client care are also key elements of this position.
